Abstract

Independent Media Services(IMS)is a subsystem to support IP Multimedia services,working in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)of version 5.IMS uses Session Initiation Protocol(SIP)to establish and maintain multi-media session;however,oversized SIP message based on text is becoming a bottleneck under IMS wireless circumstances.Under the framework of SigComp,a new algorithm based on improved Lempel-Ziv-Storer-Szymanski(LZSS)algorithm and arithmetic combination was presented to compress SIP signaling.Simulation results prove that the new algorithm has higher compression efficiency.It is valuable for IMS SIP session setup delay.
