Abstract

The association of bronchial asthma and sinusitis is one which has been recognized for many years. These studies spawned the theory of a nasobronchial reflex which contends that reflex bronchospasm occurs via stimulation of neural fibers in the nasal mucosa which then triggers a trigeminal-afferente-vagal efferent neural arc. 3 Several recent reports 4-7 add strength to these beliefs by showing that difficult to control asthma is improved following treatment of concurrent sinusitis, although a recent editorial by LcFadden questions the valitidy of these data
