Abstract

Objectives: Atrial fibrillation (AF) can be successfully converted into sinus rhythm (SR) with the modified maze procedure, i.e., epicardial pulmonary vein isolation and transmural thermocoagulation. The rate of recovery from AF to SR in patients suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD) and AF is under discussion for the combined CABG-MAZE procedure. CABG itself can cause arrhythmia postoperatively. We investigated the rate of recovery to SR after combined CABG-MAZE and CABG alone.
