Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the pre‐competitive stress symptoms in adolescent handball athlete. The instrument, List of Pre‐competitive Stress Symptoms for Children and Youth, was administered to 97 adolescents of both sexes, 30minutes before the first game of a state event. Boys and girls presented mean values of moderate stress (2.6±0.6 points and 2.7±0.6 points, respectively). We concluded that competition in the early years of adolescence is a potential source of stress in boys and girls.
