Abstract

AlN ceramics were prepared from two kinds of powders by combustion synthesis at low temperature. The sintering performance—including density variation, thermal conductivity, X-ray diffraction pattern, and morphology—were compared and evaluated. AlN ceramic prepared from powders with NH4Cl as an additive exhibited higher thermal conductivity under the same sintering system compared with the powders with H2O as an additive and commercial Tosan powder, which reveals great commercial applications for preparing low-cost AlN ceramics.
