Abstract

(1 − x)Li0.5Sm0.5TiO3–xNa0.5Sm0.5TiO3 (LST-NST, x = 0.35 to 0.45) microwave dielectric ceramics with orthorhombic perovskite structure have been fabricated by a conventional solid-state reaction method. The densification behavior of the LST-NST ceramic samples was investigated by dilatometry analyses. The effects of the sintering temperature and composition on the microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of the ceramic samples were investigated in detail. Generally, 1180°C was found to be the optimal sintering temperature for the LST-NST ceramics. The optimal microwave dielectric properties of the LST-NST ceramics were achieved for the 0.63LST-0.37NST (x = 0.37) composition with er = 96.8, Q × f = 5102 GHz, and near-zero τf of − 4.35 ppm/°C.
