Sintering behavior of the sol-gel derived aluminium titanate precursor

Abstract

Aluminium titanate has been prepared by following sol-gel technique. The densification of the noncrystalline precursor powder is significantly influenced by the oxide and non-oxide additives. The additives affect the stability and anisotropic thermal expansion of aluminium titanate as reflected through measurement of the thermomechanical properties of the sintered product.
