Abstract

AbstractSince the Soviet block collapsed, how the rest of the communist world has survived the impact has been observed closely by academic and policy communities. This article examines the possibility of the post‐Castro Cuban leadership adopting the Chinese approach – using capitalist mechanism and integrating with world economy to legitimize the one‐party regime – and argues that to forestall such a prospect, the US current embargo policies ought to be abandoned.
