Abstract

Internet of things (IoT) is an imminent technological platform to overcome social and economic challenges. IoT devices are connected through internet technology using lossy communication links. IoT technologies such as Routing Protocol for low power and lossy networks (RPL), low power wireless personal area network (LoWPAN), the constrained application protocol (CoAP) CoAP/CoAPs comprises of low bandwidth and limited resources. RPL security is a big concern where the number of attacks may disrupt network communication. The sinkhole is one of routing attack which can damage network topology. We proposed a method for multisink network topology to detect rank and sinkhole attack. Single sinkhole attack detection technique is already existing. Our solution detects rank and sinkhole attack in multisink nodes scenario with multipath and less energy consumption. We used the Cooja simulator in Contiki Operating System to implement and evaluate the performance of our proposed technique.
