Abstract

Polychromatic dark hollow beams (PDHBs) produced by axicon-lens system exhibit very interesting behaviour. Such type of polychromatic focused beams possesses so called generic singularities (Berry, 2002; Leach and Padgett, 2003 [2]) that influence the wave-filed and its characteristics (Yadav et al., 2014). The aim of this paper is to report the crux of some very interesting observations recorded during a comprehensive experiential study on PDHBs. This investigation may have potential applications to understand the anomalous behaviour of polychromatic light passes through an axicon-lens system.
