Abstract

Singlet oxygen is formed by thermal decomposition of peroxomolybdates and peroxotungstates in basic aqueous solution. As shown by both infrared chemiluminescence and chemical trapping, the yield of 1 O 2 released by this system is a total of about 160% (80% based on O 2 released). The infrared chemiluminescence technique is particularly useful for studying reaction kinetics in this system
