Abstract

Rate constants for hydrogen atom attack on acetone and dimethylether have been determined in single-pulse shock tube experiments. The following rate expressions for hydrogen abstraction have been obtained; k (H+Acetone) = 5.4 x 1013 exp(3565/T)cm3.mol-1.s-1 and k (H+Dimethylether) = 1.4 x 1014 exp(-3576/T)cm3.mol-1.s-1 in the temperature range of 970–1110 K and at 2.5 atm pressure. The results are compared with lower temperature data for the same processes and evidence is presented for an upward curvature of the Arrhenius plots over the temperature range 300 to 1110 K.
