Abstract

>The vibrating-plate capacitor used in r-f spectrometers to obtain frequency sweep is replaced with a voltagevariable capacitor, which is essentially a semiconductor diode with a moderately large capacitance. A circuit diagram is given for a superregenerative spectrometer incorporating a diode modulator for chlorine resonances at 20 to 38 Mc. Circuit modifications for lower frequency applications, e.g., for nitrogen resonances, are described. (D.L.C.)
