Abstract

Macroporous SiOC ceramics with porosity lying in the range of 88–92% were fabricated using positive sponge replication technique. Increase in the preceramic polymer concentration caused thixotropy and viscosity to increase leading to the formation of thicker struts. Compressive strength and elastic modulus of the porous bodies quadrupled with doubling of the preceramic polymer concentration in the solution.
