Abstract

In order to achieve high density recording, it is necessary to use a thin main-pole film. However, in thin film range, there is thickness-limitation for a single layer due to the domain structure. In comparison with that, multilayered films can be expected to disappear the closure domain because of its magnetostatic coupling. But the multilayered thin film heads often show instability in reproducing process. So we have to use the under layer between megnetic layer and substrate to control the stress in the films. As a result, we are able to accomplish high sensitivity and stable output in a thin film region less than 100nm.
