Abstract
The present paper has proposed a novel photonic crystal fiber (PCF) structure for single-polarization single-mode (SPSM) operation. Applying the finite element method (FEM), the birefringence of cladding, with rectangular-lattice and elliptical-hole perpendicular to each other, have been studied for the first time. Employing this cladding structure, and with proper modification of inner cladding, PCFs with ultra wideband range of 830nm for SPSM operation are obtained.
