Abstract

In this paper, a proposal on single polarization low loss and highly birefringent hollow core antiresonant fiber (HC-ARF) is presented and analyzed numerically, able to exhibit superior performances over the recently proposed structures. The proposed HC-ARF offers an extremely high polarization extinction ratio (PER) of 69170 with a very low confinement loss of 0.0004 dB/m at $1.55 \mu \mathrm{m}$ covering a wide single polarization bandwidth of 75 nm with a confinement loss of $\lt 0.3$ dB/m in this region. Besides that, a birefringence of $1.2 \times10^{-4}$ and low bending loss of 0.01 dB/m at 15 cm bend radius ensure high birefringence and very good bend robustness, respectively, of the presented HC-ARF at the wavelength of 1.55 $\mu$m. Therefore, our presented fiber, containing above outstanding properties, may be beneficial for designing polarization-controlled devices for optical communication.
