Abstract

We discuss a partial wave analysis of single pion production in π +p interactions at five momenta between 0.6 and 0.8 GeV/ c. We have obtained inelasticity parameters at four momenta which differ in some details from those extracted from a CERN elastic phase shift analysis. We have found that this CERN phase shift analysis systematically overestimates inelasticity in our momentum range, and deduce that absorption from the important S 31 ‡‡ ‡‡ This notation is as used in ref.[4]. incident wave is dominated by ϱ-meson production rather than by N ∗(1236) production.
