Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to develop a DC voltage controller with AC power ripple compensation for single phase ACDC converter, which is served as the front-end converter for an energy storage system. Due to the single phase ACDC converter circuit topology, the AC and DC side both exist power ripple with doubled grid frequency. In conventional controller, DC voltage is controlled to be a constant value, thus the ripple current flowing into DC capacitor increases and the control of input current is also affected. A DC voltage controller with AC power ripple compensation for single phase ACDC converter is implemented to control DC voltage with voltage ripple compensation. Therefore the power of AC and DC side will be balanced. The voltage ripple is calculated by AC input power with a fully digital controller. By controlling the DC voltage with voltage ripple obtained from AC power, the ripple current flowing into DC capacitor will decrease. The test plant of this paper is a 3kW single phase ACDC converter with fully digitalized control. The experiment results are introduced to verify the control method.
