Abstract

The single-particle potential rearrangement energy and the effective mass of nuclear matter have been calculated using two density-dependent effective interactions determined in an earlier work. The values of the rearrangement energy for both interactions have been found to be reasonably good compared to the Brueckner-Gammel value. The values of the effective mass also agree very well with those of Brueckner-Gammel and others. An approximate estimate of the 1s single-particle energy for the nuclei 208Pb and 16O has been made using the single-particle potential for the interaction with unequal exchange mixtures. These values of the Is single-particle energy for both nuclei have been found to be in good agreement with those referred to in the text.
