Abstract

We use the dual quark-parton model to investigate possible single-particle distributions in electroproduction. The particles are expected to be produced mainly in two kinematical regions, the target-nucleon fragmentation region and the virtual-photon fragmentation region. Using various dunamical assumptions, the relative number densities of the various types of detected hadron at high and low values of the scaling variable ω = − 2ν/q2 are predicted. At high ω, a connection is expected between the number-density distributions in electroproduction and hadron-hadron collisions; part of this connection may survive, at least approximately, for smaller values of ω.
