Abstract

Energy spectra and angular distributions of tritons and 3He particles from the 14N(d, t) 13N, 14N(d, 3He) 13C and 12C(d, 3He) 11B reactions have been measured at an incident deuteron energy of 52 MeV. Spectroscopic factors have been extracted by means of a DWBA analysis which are in good agreement with theoretical predictions of intermediate coupling calculations. The comparison of (d, t) and (d, 3He) data from 14N allows a spin assignment to a number of negative-parity states in 13C. The results are consistent with the assumption of a 7% 2s-1d admixture in the ground-state wave function of 14N. A weak j-dependence of the angular distributions is observed which is reproduced by the DWBA calculations. There is evidence for a pick-up process with inelastic excitation in the entrance channel from the 12C(d, 3He) 11B reaction.
