Abstract

In article number 1901352, Fupin Liu, Stanislav M. Avdoshenko, Alexey A. Popov, Ning Chen, and co-workers synthesize a new class of single-molecule magnets (SMMs) based on fullerenes encapsulating Dy2O species. The endohedral Dy–(μ2-O)–Dy units have a bent shape with unusually short Dy–O bonds. All three isomers of Dy2O@C82 show SMM behavior with broad magnetic hysteresis. Magnetic moments of Dy ions are aligned along the Dy–O bonds and are strongly antiferromagnetically coupled.
