Abstract

In this issue of <i>Chem</i>, Demir and colleagues report on the synthesis, <i>ab initio</i> calculations, and magnetic behaviors of two organometallic lanthanide bismuth clusters involving an unprecedented Bi66− Zintl ion. The serendipitous finding sheds light on the design strategies of exchange-coupled single-molecule magnets.
