Abstract
A diode-end-pumped continuous-wave single-longitudinal-mode Nd:GdVO4 laser at 912 nm is reported. A ring laser resonator was designed and the laser medium length was optimized to enhance the output power. A maximum single-longitudinal-mode output power of 2 W was obtained. A theoretical model of reabsorption loss considering the temperature distribution in the laser medium has been developed from the quasi-three-level rate equation including the energy-transfer upconversion and the exited state absorption effects. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical calculations.
