Abstract

Single electron capture from the alkali atoms Li, Na, K by 0.4-6 keV He2+ has been studied by measuring both total cross sections and translational energy spectra. The experimental results have been compared with semiclassical atomic expansion close coupling calculations as well as approximate calculations based on the classical over-barrier and Landau-Zener models.
