Abstract
Three α-amino acid precursors and their common substrate were structurally analyzed by means of X-ray crystallography. Though the precursors were synthesized under asymmetric reaction conditions and showed certain optical activities, their single-crystals were in racemic forms. A systematic structural investigation on these precursors has been carried out by comparing their molecular conformations and crystal packing to that of the substrate.
