Abstract

A new approach to realization of a high cyclotron harmonic gyro-oscillator based on the frequency multiplication effect is proposed and numerically studied. This approach utilizes axially asymmetric electron beam optics, which nevertheless may be as simple as the one of the conventional gyrotrons. Numerical simulations show that the proposed method can provide a watt-level output power in THz and sub-THz frequency ranges using existing electron guns.
