Abstract

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and multiple gestations are two of the more serious potential complications of IVF procedures. The OHSS complicates between 1% and 33% (1) of IVF cycles. Severe OHSS occurs in 1%–2% of IVF cycles (2, 3), and can result in life-threatening complications such as kidney failure, thrombotic events, and even death. Multiple gestations put the mother and fetuses at risk. The combination of multiple gestations and OHSS can often lead to more severe OHSS (4–6).
