Abstract

Total cross sections for single and double electron capture in He2++Li collisions are calculated at energies ranging from 800 keV to 2 MeV in the framework of the continuum distorted-wave (CDW) approximation. The independent-electron model is used to calculate the cross sections. Quantitative calculations for single electron capture from the K and L shells of the lithium atom are presented. The effect of the correlation of two electrons in the final state for double electron capture is analysed carefully. The present calculated results are compared with existing theoretical and experimental results.
