Abstract

A newly developed TG-MS-interface of the capillary type for forensic science applications is presented. The performance is demonstrated by two examples. The time resolved analysis of the decomposition of poly-(t.-butylmethacrylate) shows the behavior of the apparatus for the medium molecular mass range. Sensitivity and transient response especially for higher molecular masses up to m/z 450 have been tested by a transfer experiment with the commercial UV-absorber Tinuvin 234. The results demonstrate clearly that the interface meets the requirements of forensic science investigations.
