Abstract

Dermoid cysts are developmental anomalies resulting from entrapment of germinal epithelium. Their most common location in the head and neck is the upper outer quadrant of the orbit. Orbital dermoids are an interesting group of lesions because of their wide variety of symptoms and clinical manifestations; contained in this group are choristoma and dermoid and epidermoid cysts. 1 Pollard ZF Harley RD Calhoun J Dermoid cysts in children. The dermoid cyst consists of misplaced ectodermal tissue along with adnexal structures, in contrast to the epidermoid cyst, which lacks these structures. A case of simultaneous periorbital dermoid cysts is presented in which there was a primary temporal fossa dermoid on one side and an intraosseous diploic dermoid cyst involving the frontal and sphenoid bone on the other side.
