Abstract

The simultaneous solubility of ammonia and sulfur dioxide in water was measured by a synthetic method in the temperature range from 313.15 K to 373.15 K at two overall molalities of ammonia (m)NH3 ≈ 3 mol/kg and mNH3≈ 6 mol/kg) and pressures up to 2.2 MPa corresponding to a maximum overall molality of SO2 of about 10 mol/kg. Pitzer's semiempirical approach is used to correlate the new data. Results are reported and compared with literature data and correlations.
