Abstract

Recognition of the optical packet headers is one of key techniques of the optical packet switching (OPS) networks. This paper reports the simultaneous recognition results of two channels of the optical packet headers utilizing reservoir computing (RC) subject to the mutual-coupling optoelectronic feedback. The curves of the normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) and the word error rate (WER) of the recognition under different feedback coefficients are presented. The results show that the recognition error reaches its minimal value when the feedback coefficient β is 2. With the optimal feedback coefficient, the recognition of the two optical packet headers with 3 bits and 6 bits is realized simultaneously by numerical simulations. Moreover, the recognition of the two optical packet headers with 8 bits and 32 bits is also realized simultaneously.
