Abstract

This paper proposed a method for simultaneous parameter optimization for coordinated control of battery energy storage (BESS) and dual input power system stabilizer (DIPSS). An artificial immune system (AIS) clonal selection algorithm has been employed for parameter optimization. The two-area power system is used as a test system to assess the coordinated control along with the optimized parameters. Eigenvalue analysis and time domain simulations are used to investigate the dynamic performance of the system with proposed coordinated control algorithm. From the simulation results, it is found that by designing BESS and DIPSS parameter coordinately using AIS clonal selection algorithm the oscillatory stability performance of the power system can be enhanced with high penetration of REG.
