Abstract

Abstract : Ionospheric measurements made with the Chatanika radar during overflights of the S3-2 satellite have been analyzed to obtain the variation of ionization, conductivity, electric field, electric current, and the precipitating electron energy distribution. This report presents the analysis of four data sets consisting of simultaneous radar and satellite measurements. The first three sets, from January and February of 1976, were made when the equatorward edge of the evening diffuse aurora was near the Chatanika radar. The fourth data set, from February 1977, was obtained during a morning active aurora. (Author)
