Abstract

The laser Rayleigh scattering is applied for the time and space resolved detection of gas concentration, and it is combined with laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV) to make a simultaneous measurement of concentration and velocity. The time-mean and fluctuation concentration were detected in a turbulent jet of CO2 surrounded by a N2 stream, and the statistical properties, such as intensity, probability density function and power spectrum of the concentration fluctuation, were obtained. Simultaneous measurements of velocity and concentration were performed in the turbulent jet to demonstrate the feasibility of simultaneous detection.
