Abstract

The determination and prediction of moisture transport processes in the presence of salts in building materials is rather complex due to the multiple, simultaneous influences of the salt on the different transport processes. Three of the main mass transport processes influenced by the salts are the advective moisture transport, the ion diffusion and the vapor transport. The experimental investigations of this work are focussing on the water vapor and liquid water transport. They show a possibility to determine a function depending on the different phase amounts for multi-phase (moisture) systems with and without the influence of salts. Throughout the presented measuring principle it is possible to measure simultaneous water vapor and liquid water transport. By using salts only as “marker”, it is even possible to measure the water vapor and “pure” liquid water transport.
