Abstract

Recently, we presented a classical-over-barrier ionization (COBI) model [J. X. Shao et al., Phys. Rev. A 77, 042711 (2008)] to calculate the pure single- and double-ionization cross sections of He. We extend the COBI model to calculate the simultaneous ionization of the projectile and target in the energy range of $20--500\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{keV}∕\mathrm{amu}$. The results of the model are in excellent agreement with the experimental data. The mechanism of the simultaneous ionization is also discussed.
