Abstract

Abstract We developed a facile technique, termed as dual-targeted hydrophobic adhesion (DHA) to improve on- and off-current features simultaneously in solution-processed organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). Simple DHA process not only modifies the interface between source-drain electrodes and organic semiconductor (OSC), but also acts as passivation in OSC fabrication process. The modified interface induces shift of the Fermi energy level and decreases the contact resistance. Moreover, the passivation function of DHA suppresses water permeation and prevents the increase of trap-induced conductivity at off-state. As a result, DHA-treated OTFTs exhibit a field-effect mobility with a threefold increase and on/off current ratio (by two orders of magnitude), as compared to non-treated transistors.
