Abstract

The presence of tin slag dumps in city and town centres has created protests from environmental groups. By tradition this slag is classified into high, low and very low grades. Analysis of thorium and uranium is done simultaneously by means of the delayed neutron analysis technique. The results from this analysis show that a considerable amount of these elements are present. This may be due to contamination with other radioactive tin by-product minerals.
