Abstract

The simultaneous determination of AlIII and GaIII by the formation of fluorescent lumogallion chelates is described. The fluorescence spectra of the chelates severely overlap, but the fluorescence lifetime difference of 0.7 ns between the two chelates is large enough to permit phase-resolved fluorimetric determinations. The effects of pH on the fluorescence lifetimes and intensities of the metal chelates were studied. Steady-state and phase-resolved limits of detection and determination for the individual metal chelates were also examined.
