Abstract
This paper presents a passivity-based speed control for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for implementation in Field Programmable Gate Array technology. The Very-HighSpeed IC Hardware Description Language is employed to describe the behavior of the drive which includes the Pulse Width Modulation circuit, coordinate transformation and passivity-based control. The motor is simulated with Simulink; the inverter is performed in PSIM; the control was performed in VHDL and the simulation was done with Active-HDL. Finally, the co-simulation results validate the effectiveness of the PMSM speed control system development.
