Abstract

The formation of new sulphuric acid-water droplets in atmospheric conditions is investigated. In the present study a two mode (new and pre-existing) integral aerosol dynamics model is used. The model includes sulphuric acid formation in the homogeneous gas phase, nucleation, condensation and coagulation. The simulations show the atmospheric conditions, in which the formation of new particles is important, and enable us to derive a simple analytical expression for these conditions.
