Abstract

In this paper, a flat metamaterial antenna lens was proposed to improve the gain of a rectangular patch. Cubic high dielectric resonators periodically embedded in a low dielectric substrate were used as a metamaterial lens. Double-negative metamaterial characteristic are obtained around the degenerate mode resonant frequency of cubic resonators. The antenna gain with this lens has increased by nearly 5 dB, as predicted and also measured experimentally.
