Abstract

Energy spectra of protons channeling along the 〈1 1 1〉 plane of a 28Si crystal in the energy region E p=1.7–2.4 MeV in a backscattering geometry were taken and analyzed. Computer simulations based on the assumption that the dechanneling of protons follows an exponential law are in excellent agreement with the measured spectra. Differences between the 〈1 0 0〉 and the 〈1 1 1〉 axis in the silicon crystal and their subsequent effect on the stopping power of channeled protons are described.
