Abstract

In open-winding permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system, because of the dead-time effects of inverter and motor back EMF, the third harmonic voltage component will be generated in the motor's winding. The first part of this paper is to analyze the source and characteristics of the third harmonic voltage. The phase, frequency and amplitude information of the third harmonic in the stator voltage is analyzed through filter and a three-phase PLL, and directly compensates a third harmonic voltage on the voltage modulation side of the inverter. This method does not use the third harmonic current to analyze the modulation voltage that needs to be compensated, which reduces the difficulty of system design and improves the stability of the system. Simulation verified the reliability of the third harmonic observation and compensation system proposed in this paper.
