Abstract

In order to solve the problem of serious failure of surrounding rocks for large or super-large section chambers in deep coal mines, we got the variations of plastic zone range, stress and deformation of surrounding rocks by numerical simulation. First, we took the gangue transfer chamber of Longgu coal mine as the background. And the chamber models with different section sizes were established by using the numerical simulation software FLAC3D. The deformation and failure laws of surrounding rocks for different chamber section sizes were revealed. The results showed that the plastic zone range, stress, and deformation of surrounding rocks increased in varying degrees with the increase of section size. Then, the empirical equations were obtained by fitting the plastic zone, stress and deformation of surrounding rocks with the section size of the chamber. It was found that these parameters increased mainly in the form of quadratic functions. This research revealed the variations of stress, deformation and failure of surrounding rocks of deep chamber with the size of section, which could provide some references for design and control of chamber.
