Abstract

Metal hydrides have a high-efficiency storage volume, and can be used as a hydrogen storage material. On the other hand, if no poisonous substances are included, a metal hydride can be used as a hydrogen purification and storage material that selectively stores hydrogen when a mixed gas is supplied to it. For the designing process using metal hydrides We developed a simulation model of hydrogen purification using metal hydrides. A hydrogen purification experiment was carried out with two types of MH containers differing in size and the experimental results were compared with the calculation results obtained with the proposed numerical analysis model. As a result of this, in the case of any container, the experimental results of hydrogen concentration in off gas and differential pressure in MH packed bed correlated well with the analysis results, and the validity of the proposed numerical analysis model could be confirmed.
