Abstract

The effect of intraparticle convection on the behavior of fixed-bed reactors with spherical catalyst particles is analyzed. In the model equations for the particles, both radial and angular coordinates are accounted for. The study concerning the number of discretization points to be used in the numerical solution of the intraparticle profiles is presented. For the reactor, a comparison between unidimensional heterogeneous models with and without intraparticle convection and with spherical and slab geometry for the solid particles is also performed.
